Second Annual "Magic of Marble" Festival in Sylacauga
March 24-27, 2010

Sculptors Need to Know...

  • March 16th: Italian Master Sculptor, Giovanni Balderi, will arrive in Sylacauga to begin sculpting and teaching
     
  • March 16th: Visiting sculptors arrive to sculpt and study with Balderi through March 27th
     
  • March 17th and 24th: Ruth Cook, author of A Brief History of Sylacauga Marble, will conduct two brown bag lecture programs - More Moretti and Quarry Village Life. Programs will be in the Harry I. Brown Auditorium at 12:00 with refreshments at 11:00.
     
  • March 24th - 27th: Comer Museum will sponsor "Painting in the Park" with artists painting at different locations throughout the city; student art will be on display at the museum over this same time period
     
  • March 27th: First Annual Marble City 5-K Run followed by a One Mile Fun Run.

  • March 16th - 27th: Marble product displays furnished by OMYA, IMERYS, Alabama Marble Company and Architectural Stone Imports will be at Comer Library
     
  • March 24th - 27th: Sylacauga merchants will hold special "Marble Days"
     
  • Dates to be arranged: Tours of Alabama Marble Quarry to view slabs and block marble being mined
     
  • March 27th: Festival ends at 2:00 p.m.
